The Most Badass NBA Jerseys of the '80s

The NBA jersey has undergone significant changes over time. Viewing the evolution of the jersey has been great. The problem is that they just don't make the NBA jerseys like they used to. '80s jerseys featured a wide array of colors like the Denver Nuggets, or really interesting logos and text like the Indiana Pacers.

The originality of the '80s NBA jersey still remains epic and innovative to this day. From the classic Seattle Supersonics unis to the powder blue Sacramento Kings jerseys, here are the Most Badass Jerseys of the '80s.

Seasons: 1977-90

The New Jersey Nets uniforms feature a red, white, and blue design with stars streaking down the side of the jersey. These uniforms seem like the ultimate jerseys to wear during a July 4th barbecue.

Seasons: 1987-97

These classic unis look more like some old school bathing suits rather than actual NBA jerseys. We miss the days of full patterns on NBA jersey. The originality in the Bullets jersey is pretty neat, now only if that success in style could've actually translated to the court.

Seasons: 1983-87

While the orange in the Cavaliers '80s jersey can make the team seem more like a college basketball squad, it worked for Cleveland. The style is pretty plane, but when painted orange, the jersey comes off as a sight for sore eyes.

Seasons: 1981-96

The biggest mistake in NBA history has to be the Detroit Pistons switch from their classic blue and red "Bad Boy Era" jerseys to the "teal" era of the '90s. Good thing they went back to their classic blue and red uniforms in the early 2000s. Simple but effective.

Seasons: 1984-90

The Pacers reconfigured their roster drafting players like Chuck Person and Reggie Miller who would go on to don this style of their jersey. While this jersey is creative, the Pacers would become infamous for their next two jersey designs in the '90s because of the team's success and popularity during that decade.

Seasons: 1984-87

This jersey never upsets. Unfortunately, the Warriors upset people with their poor performances in the 80s. One highlight is Sleepy Floyd's big playoff performance against the Los Angeles Lakers, though.

Seasons: 1976-95

In what many would define as a simple design, Houston ran with these for about twenty years before switching it up to the cartoon-themed pinstripes. We prefer these joints because they were worn during a very successful stint in Houston Rockets history, where the franchise made four finals appearances.

Seasons: 1984-96

While the jersey, logo, and name don't really make sense for the Utah Jazz (they should give the name back to New Orleans), it still was a nice style. This jersey format was colorful and helped usher in the arrivals of John Stockton and Karl Malone.

Seasons: 1977-91

Black and red never fail especially when a team is playing in the Rose Garden. It's a simple style, but just a perfect fit for the wildly popular Portland Trail Blazers of the '80s. They still practically wear the same style and design in 2013. That font is so '80s, though.

Seasons: 1982-92

We might as well call these the Human Highlight Film era jerseys for all intensive purposes. During the years Atlanta wore these "Pac-Man" styled uniforms, Dominique Wilkins and Spud Webb were putting on shows at the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and 'Nique was dueling with Larry Bird in the playoffs.

Seasons: 1979-83

This is a pretty unique Knicks design which is a departure from their historically orange and blue colors. This design was during the promising, but disappointing run of Michael Ray Richardson and Ray Williams.

Seasons: 1984-92

The best moments for the '80s Nuggets included their high-octane offense as well as their jerseys. The trim features a unique collection of colors. A bright and colorful style is a winning style... unless you're the Denver Nuggets. They didn't win much, but at least their unis were nice to look at.

Seasons: 1985-90

Powder blue doesn't work for everyone, and we advise most teams to steer clear of jerseys like this one, but it works out. While the Kings struggled after their move from Kansas City to Sacramento, at least they had some decent uniforms to wear. And the last names on the back of the jersery were on the bottom, underneath the numbers.

Seasons: 1973-85

It has been a long time since we've seen the Chicago Bulls rock uniforms that feature cursive text. It brings us back to the days of a young Michael Jordan making his debut and wowing crowds across the NBA with his acrobatic finishes.

Seasons: 1985-95

The Sonics rocked these iconic jerseys during some very exciting moments in team history. With the transition to a young roster featuring Tom Chambers, Dale Ellis, and Xavier McDaniel, Seattle wore these jerseys from that era all the way to the Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp era.
