For years now we have heard rumors that the team at Tesla has been working on a technology that will allow batteries to be swapped in and out of cars.
Now, on the heels of the best year in the company's short history, CEO Elon Musk has announced he will demonstrate the technology at a studio in L.A. on Thursday night.
Essentially, the technology enables drivers to swap batteries at "swap stations" instead of having to wait for recharging. If it works (and we are really hoping it does), the tech will be the most important development in the evolution of the electric car.
