Simone Biles, the Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast, has officially tied the knot with her husband Jonathan Owens, who plays safety for the NFL’s Houston Texans.
The couple celebrated their union with a marvelous ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on Saturday evening, as reported by PEOPLE. The newly-minted bride wore four different dresses on her big day, with guests arriving to champagne, gold and white decorations and stunning flower pieces that the gymnast explained weren’t cheap on Instagram last month.
The newlyweds exchanged handwritten vows and were accompanied by eight bridesmaids and seven groomsmen in a ceremony that over 140 guests attended. The Cabo wedding was actually the second time Biles and Owens tied the knot.
Last month, the couple got legally married at a Houston, Texas, courthouse before their actual destination wedding. They first bumped into each other during a Texans game in 2019 and officially met on the Raya dating app a year later. Owens popped the question on Valentine’s Day in 2022 with an oval-cut diamond ring designed by jeweler ZoFrost that also featured a diamond-encrusted band.
The two have shown they’ve been inseparable throughout their time together. In 2021, the gold medalist told PEOPLE the pair couldn’t get enough of each other with all the love and support around them.
“Oh, he’s always so supportive,” she said of Owens. “Even if I wake up in the morning and I’m like, ‘I’m tired, do I have to go,’ jokingly, he’s like ‘Don’t say that! You can do it, this is your dream!’”
