I'm rarely shocked by the news that comes out of Missouri. Hailing from Colorado, I expected the state to be something like this when I moved for college. But this battle between resident and homeowner's association is the opposite of redneck, at least on the homeowner's association's side.
A subdivision in Wildwood, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis, bans its residents from parking a pickup truck in their driveway for more than four days per year (who's tasked with keeping tally is what I want to know). One resident has beef with this rule and is trying to get the 130 signatures necessary to get it out of the books. But the homeowner's association is fighting back. "Think of the property value," I imagine its members yelling incoherently. Here's the association's flier:
Call me crazy, but it sounds ridiculous that having a few pickup trucks around would decrease a home's value. Especially in Missouri. It's one thing if we're talking about a rusted joint without tires sitting in a front yard, but who is a vintage Ford F-100 really hurting? I thought this was America. Here's the dude's Facebook page if you want to show support.
