Dez Bryant Reportedly Rejected a Multi-year Offer From the Ravens to Pursue Big One-year Deal

Dez Bryant is reportedly pursuing a big one-year deal so he can secure a multi-year contract in 2019.

A little over a week ago it was reported that the Baltimore Ravens were "interested" in Dez Bryant, who had previously been released by the Dallas Cowboys following eight years in Big D. At the time, it was unclear if the feeling was mutual, especially since Bryant made it sound like he wanted to play in the NFC East so he could match-up against Dallas twice a season. While that would certainly enrich next season's storylines, it doesn't appear likely to happen:

It’s early but Dez Bryant’s goal to play in NFC East is not being embraced at this moment by Redskins, Giants and Eagles #oops

More on Dez Bryant: The #Redskins, per a league source, “have not discussed [him] at all” and have no desire to explore signing him. I’m also told the #Giants are not interested - neither are the #Eagles. So Dez’s goal of remaining in the NFC East appears to be a pipe dream. https://t.co/svOW357u9W

On Wednesday, it was reported that Baltimore wanted to sign Bryant, but Bryant rejected the team's offer. In fact, these reports state that the Ravens wanted to ink Dez to a multi-year deal for cap space purposes. Unfortunately for them, the three-time Pro Bowler prefers a one-year deal so he can lockdown a bigger contract in free agency next year (he hasn't had more than 1,000 yards since 2014, plus it's already pretty late in the free agency period):

Source: Former #Cowboys WR Dez Bryant turned down a multi-year offer from the #Ravens. He apparently wants a big 1-year deal and chance to secure bigger long-term contract as a UFA from beginning in 2019.

Yup. Ravens needed a multi-year deal to fit under the cap, Dez Bryant wanted a 1-year. Baltimore wanted him, Bryant wasn’t ready to commit. https://t.co/T3n7ohBRwk

We'll circle back to this in training camp.
