Odell Beckham Jr. has not been shy about vocalizing his disdain for the Giants. Since his trade, people within the organization have claimed that Beckham's off-field antics were cancerous. One insider even went as far as to call him "a pain in the ass."
During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Beckham alludes to this rift being the reason New York traded him to what they believed to be a struggling franchise.
"This wasn’t no business move," Beckham said. "This was personal. They thought they’d send me here to die." Although he takes direct aim at the Giants, Beckham didn't absolve himself from all the drama that took place in New York.
"I can’t be like, ‘I’ve never done anything wrong,’" Beckham admits. But he does blame the New York media for highlighting things like his sideline outbursts or in-game fight with Josh Norman, over his elite production. "They built something that they now wanted to control," Beckham explained. "And there is no need to try to control it."
It seems like Beckham is ready to rise from the ashes created by the bridge that was burned when he left New York, and help establish Cleveland as a winning franchise. While he claims that he and Eli Manning were just "cool," Beckham is now playing with his longtime friend, Jarvis Landry. Landry thinks that the addition of Beckham combined with Baker Mayfield's elite potential will be enough to change the league's perception of the Browns.
"That stigma, that aura that was always over the Cleveland Browns," Landry told SI. "I can feel it coming off."
