Earl Thomas has found himself in more legal trouble.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Texas authorities have issued a felony arrest warrant for the former NFL star. The outlet reports the seven-time Pro Bowler is accused of violating a court protective order by sending threatening text messages to a woman and her children. Thomas, who previously played for the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks, had not been arrested as of press time.

The 12-month protective order was reportedly granted in May 2021, when Thomas was told he could only communicate with the woman through a co-parenting mobile app. Court documents state the former Seahawks and Raves star had violated the order on at least two occasions; one of those violations reportedly took place on April 18, when he allegedly texted the woman he had acquired two guns and threatened to “kick [her] ass.”

The following day, Thomas allegedly told the woman, “I hope u in the car with him and the kids and yall drive off the road. Ima let my momma and my cousins poison they (their children) ass.”

Thomas is currently in divorce proceedings with Nina Thomas, who filed for separation in late 2020. Earlier that year, Thomas allegedly pointed a gun at her husband after she accused him of infidelity. Thomas’ lawyer claims the messages in question stem from his client’s efforts to see his children.

“They were consciously and collectively working together to see his kids,” his attorney, Trey Dolezal, told the Statesman. “I don’t really understand how he could be in violation by working together to visit with his children.

Thomas is now reportedly charged with a third-degree felony for allegedly violating the protective order. The NFL free agent has not played in a game since 2019.
