"Wait a second, did Joel Embiid just say what we think he said on SportsCenter?!"

That was the reaction that we had—and the reaction that a lot of other people had—after the 76ers rookie sat down for an interview with ESPN earlier this week. During the interview, which you can watch in the video above, Embiid was asked to "characterize the real Joel Embiid." And in doing so, it sounded like Embiid said, "At Kansas, there was so many hoes," when he referenced his dating life in college.

People found Embiid's total lack of chill to be hilarious. Just check out some of the tweets we saw floating around out there:

However, we're sad to report that Embiid did not say "hoes" on SportsCenter. It sure sounded like he did. But if you listen back carefully, it's pretty clear that he said, "At Kansas, there was so many rules." Embiid himself even confirmed it on Twitter:
