Skip Bayless has said a lot of ridiculous things over the course of the last few years. So, we weren't surprised when he suggested that Derek Jeter might have used performance-enhancing drugs before the 2012 MLB season during yesterday morning's First Take show.
"I am shocked by what I'm seeing from Derek Jeter," Bayless said. "They all said he was washed up. All of a sudden, this man has turned 38 years of age in June and already he has more hits than he had last year…I'm seeing a whole new guy this year from last year…Are you kidding me? You would have to have your head in the sand or your head somewhere else not to at least wonder, 'How is he doing this?'…I am not saying he uses a thing. I have no idea. But, within the confines of his sport, it is fair for all of us, in fact you are remiss, if you don't at least think about this."
But, rather than getting all bent out of shape about it after hearing about the allegations, Jeter took the high road last night and laughed off Skip's comments before the Yankees game against the White Sox in Chicago.
"What do you want me to say?" Jeter asked reporters. "Maybe Skip should be tested. I don't know him, but…"
You're right, DJ. Skip probably should be tested. Athletes, take notice: This is how you respond to Skip Bayless when he says something crazy about you.
