Adrian Peterson will not be back on the football field for the Vikings this season.

Even though Peterson worked out his legal issues stemming from a child abuse-related case that was brought against him in September and even though he believes that he deserves to be back in the league right now as a result of it, the NFL just announced that they are suspending AP for the remainder of the 2014-15 NFL season without pay.

The league released a statement a short time ago announcing their decision. In it, Roger Goodell writes that he will not reinstate Peterson this season but that he will consider reinstating him next April if he agrees to undergo counseling and receive treatment between now and then.

"We are prepared to put in place a program that can help you to succeed, but no program can succeed without your genuine and continuing engagement," Goodell writes. "You must commit yourself to your counseling and rehabilitative effort, properly care for your children, and have no further violations of law or league policy."

Peterson has already appealed the decision made by Goodell and the NFL. So stay tuned to see what else develops with this story in the near future.
