The WWE suspended women’s tag team champions Sasha Banks and Naomi after the duo walked out of Monday Night Raw earlier this week. The duo has also been stripped of their tag team title.
Announcer Michael Cole broke the news during Friday Night SmackDown, saying, “Sasha Banks and Naomi let us all down. Their actions disappointed millions of WWE fans, and their fellow superstars. So because of what Sasha and Naomi did this past Monday night, they have been suspended indefinitely.”
WWE released an official statement on Monday, revealing that Sasha and Naomi walked into the office of WWE head of talent relations John Laurinaitis, placed suitcase on his desk with their title belts in it and walked out of the arena.
The company said that the duo felt they “weren’t respected enough as tag team champions” and “were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents.”
“They claimed they weren’t respected enough as tag team champions,” WWE wrote in an official statement. “And even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents.”
WWE added, “We regret we were unable to deliver, as advertised, tonight’s main event.”
The two WWE superstars have yet to respond to the controversy.
