Trailing the Spurs 125-128 in the fourth quarter on Monday night, new Lakers star LeBron James dribbled down and pulled up from around 30 feet to tie the game with a little over two seconds remaining, eventually sending the game to overtime.

This was why Magic Johnson brought the best player in the game to Tinseltown. However, most Lakers fans have already forgotten Bron's heroics in regulation—including his 32-point, 14-dime contribution—after he missed two key free throws with 12.8 seconds remaining and Lakers up one in overtime:

Patty Mills would go on to hit the go-ahead jumper for the Spurs with seven seconds left:

While LeBron still had a chance to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, his last-second attempt rimmed out and the Lakers fell to 0-3 in their first week with the best player in the game.

Naturally, pundits and personalities took to Twitter to offer their takes on LeBron's missed free throws and bring up Black Mamba for comparison's sake.

Lakers fans were obviously pissed, and that gave the Mamba stans carte blanche to opine away about how Bryant would have knocked down those three throws:

One game, and a pair of free throws, has now turned into a referendum on the Kobe vs. LeBron debate (Kobe isn't even in the conversation anymore, sorry not sorry).

Oh hey, here are some facts that actually support Kobe stans, at least from the charity stripe, where LeBron has been notoriously inconsistent.

But it was primarily a chance for fans still thirsty for hyperbolic Kobe mythologizing to trot out their same tired tweets about how much better Mamba is despite all the evidence to the contrary.

You could see this coming the moment his mural was defaced. Be better Lakers fans. You've got him for four more seasons.
