The comment came on an ESPN post about Doncic having the highest Rookie of the Year odds. Porter was not listed among the contenders for the award.

Porter's apparent "like" led to one of Doncic's former Real Madrid teammates chastising Porter.

MVP of Euroleague can’t be overrated. A injured player who has not played 5 college games can be overrated. #Facts https://t.co/OWOzb6UUx7

It appears this was all a mix-up—according to Porter. The former Missouri recruit told SiriusXM he reached out to Doncic immediately to clear the air.

We had Michael Porter Jr. on with us @SiriusXMNBA on the Luka Doncic IG issue: "It was an accident and I reached out to Luka right away, we're cool. We saw each other earlier." --- as far as being overrated: "If I had played in college, I would have averaged 30 and 15."

Porter explained more of his perspective to ESPN:

"So what's crazy is that blew up. Believe it or not, I'm scrolling through [a post about] the Rookie of the Year odds and I accidentally like a comment. This is the EuroLeague MVP and I got nothing but respect for him. I was like, 'Man, I didn't want to come off like that.' I reached out to [Doncic], told him it was 100 percent accident and I told him, 'I can't wait to see what you do in the league.' I wasn't worried about what fans thought, but I wanted to let him know instantly. It was 100 percent accident."

Denver and Dallas will play for the first time Dec. 18, though there's no guarantee Porter will be in the lineup by that point.
