After testing the waters of the NBA Draft and failing to be selected (or receive an invitation to Summer League), LiAngelo Balljoined his father's league, the Junior Basketball Association. True to form, the shooter's been shooting ever since.
In his team's latest game, LiAngelo and younger brother LaMelo both put up over 30 points. Gelo, in fact, eclipsed the 50-point mark—but he did so by taking 44 shots. Forty-four shots.
LaMelo put up a more-than-respectable stat line of 34 points on 13-for-25 shooting, in addition to adding 20 assists. New Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young was in attendance for the offensive explosion. Young played with LiAngelo in the 2017 Ballislife All-American game.
LaMelo and LiAngelo's Los Angeles Ballers won their fourth straight game, defeating Houston by a score of 169-153. Houston had two players attempt more than 25 shots. It goes without saying that defense isn't a super high priority for the JBA.
LaVar announced the league's introduction in December 2017, and this is its first season. The JBA recruited high school prospects through a number of venues, including direct messages on social media.
The intrepid league will host an All-Star Game—which, you can rest assured, will highlight the two Ball brothers—in Chicago Aug. 3.
