Stormzy is firmly in Raheem Sterling's corner.

England winger Sterling has been on the end of some questionable (at best) treatment from the tabloid press in the run up to the FIFA World Cup and GSAP rapper Stormzy, who is all too aware of unfair press treatment, has broken down the situation as he sees it.

In a rare interview with sports-lifestyle title VERSUSBig Mike said that Sterling hasn't ever done anything wrong and his media treatment is a result of something more sinister:

"...there’s this whole narrative and agenda against people like us. All Sterling does is mash up the pitch, provide for his family and do what any young bruddah in his position at his age is doing, which is…sometimes he has a party, sometimes he buys his mum a Range Rover. He’s not done anything wrong. He’s guilty of being nang, bruv! Guilty of being young, black and successful."

The interview dropped a day after England's opening game, where the Three Lions won their opening game in an encouraging display – but Sterling remained a target for some.

Read the full interview here, in which Stormzy also spoke about his World Cup expectations, friendship with Rhian Brewster and news about his much anticipated second album.
