Steve Kerr Says Steph Curry Is "Not Going to Play Anytime Soon"

Steve Kerr says Stephen Curry is "coming along well" but still won't play "anytime soon."

Not that they really need him for the first round (no offense, or anything, San Antonio fans) but it would still be highly advantageous for the Warriors to get Stephen Curry back sooner rather than later. In fact, that probably didn't need to be stated.

A few days ago the team announced that Curry, who is recovering from a left MCL sprain suffered on March 23, would be taking part in "modified practices," with planned increases in the intensity of his on-court rehab, in an effort to get him back into game shape.

An optimistic fan would take that as good news.

However, prior to Golden State's 103-90 loss to the Spurs on Sunday, Steve Kerr poured cold water on any notion that Curry might make his 2018 postseason debut in the very near future.

"Steph’s not going to play anytime soon," Kerr said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "He’s coming along well. He looked good in practice. I talked to him this morning. He’s feeling healthy, getting better. He still has a few limitations that he’s trying to work through, but no pain. I think he’s on track. I can’t put a timetable on it, but I think he’s coming along really well."

Curry's next evaluation will come on this upcoming Friday, which would make his earliest possible return Game 7 against the Spurs. That specific contest would only be necessary if San Antonio won their next two to even up the series.

More realistically, the team hopes to have him back for Round 2, which could begin as early as Saturday. Hold your breath if you want.
