On early Friday afternoon, the first of the three suicide letters that Aaron Hernandez wrote before he killed himself was released by the media. This was the alleged letter that he wrote to his fiancee Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez:

In case you're having trouble reading that, it says:

You have always been my soul-mate and I want you to live life and know I'm always with you. I told you what was coming indirectly! I love you so much and know you are an angel--literally! We split into two to come change the world! Your characteristics is that of a true angel and the definition of GODS love! Tell my story fully but never think anything besides how much I love you. This was the supremes, the almightys plan, not mine! I love you! Let [redacted] know how much I LOVE HER! Look after [redacted] and [redacted] for me--these are my boys (YOU'RE RICH)

I Knew I Loved You = Savage Garden

The "you're rich" line may connect to recent theories on his suicide. In Massachusetts, you are not considered guilty if you're dead and your appeals process hasn't yet been exhausted. Because of that loophole, despite a life sentence for a conviction for murdering Odin Lloyd, Hernandez is technically innocent as far as the state's concerned. Therefore the Patriots will probably be on the hook to pay his estate the rest of his $6 million salary, though one would think that their lawyers (as well as prosecutors) will challenge this.

Stay tuned.
