During the 2010 college football season, Rutgers defensive lineman Eric LeGrand was paralyzed while defending a kickoff against Army. Doctors told him that he'd never breathe on his own, eat solid foods, or be able to move around without assistance. (Note: They couldn't do anything to curb his sense of humor.) Four years later, LeGrand is doing all those things and more, including winning the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the 2012 ESPYs and delivering a commencement speech for the 2014 graduating class at Rutgers.

Recently, LeGrand sat down with Complex News to discuss his recovering, befriending Lil Wayne, and how he gets free Subway for life. FOR LIFE! He'll also be honored at Sunday's New York Red Bulls game against the Los Angeles Galaxy. For more information about tickets, click here.
