Michigan State had a slow first half against Oklahoma on Friday night. It was all because of "Get Hard," according to Tom Izzo.

Last night in the Carrier Dome, the Michigan State Spartans didn't look sharp against the Oklahoma Sooners in the first half. Luckily for the Spartans, they were fortunate enough to turn it around in the second half and come away with the 62-58 victory to advance to play the No. 4 seed Louisville in the East final. Following the game, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo spoke on the lackluster start and put the blame on watching Get Hard, starring Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell, the night before.

“I probably caused the problems in the first half. Instead of grinding it in some film, we went to a damn movie. We did it just to try to break up the day. I had to find something that was a little light. I didn’t want anything too deep. This wasn’t too deep. I kept seeing the commercials.”

Izzo said he sat with Hart at a Connecticut game last year and met Ferrell years ago, leading him to think sending his team to a movie starring the two could be good karma.

“‘I said this could be a good omen.’ So they went,” Izzo said. “I said if we lose, we’ll never do it again. If we win, hell we might go to the movies tomorrow. I don’t know.”

We're not sure if another movie the night before squaring off against the Cardinals would be a good idea. But hey, Izzo has shown time and time again during this time of the year, he knows what's best.
