How Likely Is It LeBron James Will Spurn Cleveland…Again?

With his Cavaliers stumbling to an 18-12 start, it's no guarantee LeBron James will stick around following the 2014/15 campaign.

The Decision was met with the burning of maroon No. 23 jerseys, but it also brought about two championships in four seasons with the Miami Heat. The Return of the King garnished all the admiration of a hero returning from war, but so far its yielded an 18-12 record for the Cavaliers, and a reported disconnect between first year head coach David Blatt and the Cleveland locker room.

What does this all mean, though? LeBron James got his wish of playing with Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, but things haven’t come together as quickly as anticipated. But so what, LeBron would never leave Cleveland a second time, right?

Wrong.

Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com writes that LeBron James could quite easily opt out of his contract at the end of this season, if he so chooses.

“James, who turns 30 today, has no intention of compromising his prime playing years for a sputtering organization. He can opt out of his contract at the end of the season and become a free agent…Given the massive scrutiny he would endure if he departed Cleveland a second time, if his hand is forced, I’m told he won’t hesitate to make the appropriate business decision if it means bolting.”

Now it's still a bit too early in the season to hit the panic button, but Cavs fans know all too well that it’s never a good thing to hear decision and LeBron mentioned in the same breath.
