Derek Jeter has only been retired from Major League Baseball for a few days now. But he's already found at least one post-retirement project to keep him busy.

Early this morning, the former Yankees shortstop (doesn't that sound weird?) announced that he's launching a sports website called The Players' Tribune in the very near future that will seek to cover athletes in a whole new way. The site—which will be helmed by former ESPN Publishing Editorial Director Gary Hoenig—is designed to give athletes the ability to communicate with their fans "with no filter." And while it obviously remains to be seen whether or not Jeter will be able to cut out the middle man (the media) and give athletes a voice on the site, he seems to think that he'll be able to do it.

Here's a letter that Jeter posted on The Players' Tribune this morning explaining what his new site is all about:

1.

Stay tuned to see what the site looks like and how it differs from all of the other sports-related sites out there.
