Just about everyone out there is expecting Carmelo Anthony to opt out of his current contract and become a free agent this summer. Everyone exceptPhil Jackson.

Jackson knows that Anthony could be gone this summer, since he would be free to sign with another team if he were to opt out of his contract. But according to reports, Jackson met with him recently and told him that "it might be a good idea to hang in here and see what it's like for a year." And Anthony was reportedly open to the idea. He didn't commit to anything. But he did tell Jackson that he would at least consider staying with the Knicks for one more season and delaying his free agency.

At this point, the Knicks don't even have a head coach. So Anthony probably isn't going to make a final decision anytime soon. But if you're him, do you want to go through another year like the one you just went through? Or are you becoming a free agent at the first available opportunity?
