Sinkholes are starting to become more and more of a problem in the state of Florida. Officials aren't exactly sure why they're so prevalent all of a sudden—the overdevelopment of land in the state may be to blame—but whatever the case, it's clear that Florida has a real problem on their hands right now.

Unfortunately, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. resident Madaline Keeble found that out the hard way recently. She was driving her smart car down a street when, seemingly out of nowhere, the ground opened up and her car was swallowed by a sinkhole. Thankfully, she was able to get out of the car quickly and escape before the entire car was submerged underground. But her car was clearly destroyed by the damage caused by the sinkhole.
