Early last year, Bulls forward Jimmy Butler went out for a night on the town and wore a shirt that said "PUSSY, MONEY, & WEED" on the front of it. It was obviously a nod to this Lil Wayne song. But the photo of Butler wearing the shirt started making the rounds on the Internet yesterday and caused a wave of controversy. In fact, the photo got so much attention that Butler was actually forced to issue an apology through his Twitter account.

"In regards to the picture that is circulating," he wrote. "It was early last year and the shirt simply matched my shoes. In no way do I support the message written on the shirt. I sincerely apologize to any of my fans who may have been offended. Much love, JB."

We have to admit: We think it was sort of ridiculous that he was forced to issue an apology for wearing the shirt. But we think it's equally ridiculous that his excuse was "It matched my shoes!" If you're gonna throw a T-shirt like that on, you've gotta own it, son! Otherwise, what's the point?

Peep the controversial photo of Butler wearing the shirt in the thumbs gallery above. Do you really think he should have apologized for wearing it?
