Next month, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, and the rest of the 2012 Olympic basketball team will head to London to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympics. And, if NBA Commissioner David Stern gets his way, it'll be the last time NBA players do it. No, Jim Rome's BFF isn't looking to pull NBA players out of international competition. Rather, he's interested in partnering up with FIBA to turn the basketball world championships into "The World Cup of Basketball" sometime in the very near future—meaning the 2012 Olympic team could be the last one that includes NBA players on it.

The advantage of doing it? Stern and the rest of the NBA owners would get to turn a profit off the NBA players competiting in the "World Cup," as opposed to now where the Olympic committee reaps the rewards. So, enjoy next month's Olympic basketball. It might be the last time you can do it.
