We're only a few days removed from the Los Angeles Police Department seizing an estimated $500,000 worth of Nike sneakers from Cool Kicks' warehouse that were reportedly stolen from a train cargo. Now, the authorities have cracked down on more stolen sneakers worth over $1 million.
The LAPD posted on Instagram yesterday that its Commercial Crimes Division and Cargo Theft Unit recovered an estimated $1,460,000 in stolen train cargo on Monday. Alejandro Aguilar-Espinoza, the suspect, was found with various Nike shoes, Milwaukee tools, and electronic equipment in his Los Angeles home.
Video captured by the LAPD shows various Nike and Jordan sneaker boxes scattered throughout the suspect's home as well as plenty of brown shipping boxes all within the backyard.
"This investigation underscores the importance of interagency collaboration in combating large-scale cargo theft and preserving the integrity of Southern California’s commercial supply chains. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are expected," the LAPD wrote in the Instagram caption.
The LAPD confirmed the ongoing investigation and the impending arrests for the stolen goods.
