I get them every day.
One thing that I like about being on the west coast is that eager PR folks in New York can fire off a slew of press releases the second they get to their desks on a Monday morning, and my three-hours-later self can thankfully wake up to an e-stack of emails.
Like this one.
The Reebok & Emporio Armani Footwear Collection. I kid you not. I'm not sure if it's a Reebok, with Emporio Armani's touch, or Emporio Armani sneakers -- injected with an unidentifiable Reebok flair that holds zero credibility in any fashion circles. [Though I'm also not sure if Armani has been next level since the days when Pat Riley coached the Lakers. And this is the takedown Armani label.]
Either way, take a look through the Reebok x Emporio Armani Collection. I'm pretty sure a long hard look will leave you speechless.
There's "dress shoes" featuring visible DMX. "Dress shoes" featuring Pump systems incorporated into the collar. [For fit, lockdown and support, of course.] There's even slip-on leather "dress shoes" featuring Reebok's Pump system AND visible DMX. Is this fashionable to anyone?
This is an actual sentence: "The combination of a leather outsole in the forefoot contrasts with DMX technology yet results in a harmonious, unique sports-style shoe." For serious.
Releasing in August, the most surprising part of this randomly united partnership collection might not even be the misguided silhouettes, dated technology like Pump, DMX and Hexride that Reebok itself has moved on from -- Easy Tone and Zig Tech are clearly the latest initiatives -- but the price might be the most startling part of it all.
You can find them at select retailers (meaning those out of the loop enough to place orders) in the sweet price range of $275-$450. Why the hell not.
