The undeniable force that is sneaker culture recently arrived at the Brooklyn Museum via an exhibit showcasing the evolution of the sneaker over the last two centuries. In "The Rise of Sneaker Culture," Elizabeth Semmelhack, Senior Curator at the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, explores the history of sneakers and the cult following they've had for decades.

The exhibit features brands like adidas, Nike, Puma, in addition to luxury labels like Prada and Rick Owens. Also on display are some of the most rare and in-demand sneakers in existence, like the Chanel x Reebok Instapump Fury from 1997 that never saw a proper release. Complex News was lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the exhibit before it opens to the public on Friday, July 10.

Check out photos below as we take a tour of the first-ever curated sneaker exhibit.
