Release the Kraken: The NFL Is Taking It's Uniform Policy Too Seriously

Things have gotten out of hand with Roger Goodell wanting to control everything about the NFL. Sure, he's done plenty of good for the game, most recently with the implementation of the strict domestic violence rules, which we can all get behind. The problem comes in when he tries to take the fun and personality away from the game. Shortening the kick off, eliminating touchdown dances, can't dunk the football over the goal post, and now this.

According to a bulletin board in the Carolina Panthers locker room, the face paint used by Pro Bowl defensive end Greg Hardy to get into game-mode, has been deemed a violation of the NFL's uniform policy.

Hardy uses the face paint and black contact lenses to channel the mythical sea beast known as "The Kraken", and helps him get into beast mode when he hits the field. This is just the latest of ridiculous rules handed down by the NFL, and in all likely hood there's plenty more to come.

Hardy led the Panther's with 15 sacks last year, earning himself a franchise tag from the Panthers which guarantee's him a base salary of $13.1 million. While no official word has come down on the fine sanctioned by the NFL, Hardy clearly has the money to keep it going, so it'll be interesting to see what happens when he takes the field this Sunday in the Panther's opener.
