The partnership between UK artist Dave White and Jordan Brand began in 2011, when 23 pairs of the Air Jordan 1 Retro DW were auctioned off in support of Wings for the Future. A year later, the two came together for a wider launch of the same sneaker in a different colorway. It turns out that when the final designs were decided on, there were a few sample versions that didn't quite make the cut.
White recently took to Instagram to unveil what he calls 'Sample II.' This make-up features a patriotic blend of red, white, and navy, along with the same elephant print forefoot overlay found on the retail pair. According to White, other key details include a suede toebox, white 3M reflective paneling, and artist canvas.
In 2013, Jordan Brand and White teased a third sneaker—Carmelo Anthony's Jordan Melo M9 in an Olympic-inspired colorway. However, the shoe never released.
