May drew inspiration from three sources: the "Shadow" Air Jordan 1 serves as the base, corduroy paneling represents her father's swap meet-purchased house shoes and the satin panels, chenille Swooshes and orange logo hits were pulled from the LA Kings Starter jacket. The collaboration serves as a tribute to her hometown city of Los Angeles.
