Over the years, mixing functionality with fashion has become somewhat of an empty cliche used by sneaker companies to sell whatever product is being offered at that particular time. With the introduction of its Atric range, Adidas Originals is promising to deliver products that provide solutions to today's wearer without compromising the style that has the brand surging in the U.S. market.
The core of Atric is Merino wool, a fine, natural fiber known for its moisture-wicking, water resistance, breathability and comfort. For the Atric F/22 Primeknit sneaker, Originals co-developed bespoke Merino wool fiber Primeknit with Woolmark, using the hybrid material for the upper. Suede overlays add extra reinforcement, while a minimalist lacing system helps maintain the sock-like fit. The model pulls elements from archival releases such as the EQT range and 2001's Water Moccasin.
Appearing to be built to be a barefoot silhouette, the Atric F/22 takes a drastic turn with its tooling. A thick, raised-texture wraparound outsole provides all-terrain grip and PU inserts in the forefoot and heel enhance overall stability, The tongue and heel pull-tabs resemble camera straps, as the Atric F/22 draws its name from an aperture setting in professional photography.
Additionally, there will be a matching apparel collection dubbed "Adventure," which includes outdoor-themed t-shirts, bottoms, outerwear and accessories.
Priced at $160, the Atric F/22 Primeknit will release at adidas.com and Adidas Originals retailers on Thursday, May 3.
