Last Thursday, Nike officially opened its newest Community Store, and its the first one located in the East Coast.
Located in Washington, D.C. with an emphasis on community outreach and volunteer work, Nike's Community Stores focus on influencing positive change and usually employs workers who live within five miles of the store. The concept begins with reaching the youth at an early age and teaching them the benefits of physical activity.
Furthermore, Nike is looking to boost the area's economy by creating more jobs. The Swoosh makes it a point to hire Community Store employees that live within a five mile radius.
