Boy Meets World actor Ben Savage announced this week that he’s running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Savage announced his plans to get into politics late last year, but now he’s officially filed the paperwork as of Wednesday, Jan. 18. He’s hoping to represent California’s 30th District, and represents a bigger push into the world of U.S. politics following his run for Los Angeles City Council in November 2022. Savage ultimately didn’t fare too well in the more local election, with only 6.3 percent of the vote. However, the registered Democrat appears determined to push on and his bigger goals in mind.

His more recent interest in actively engaging in politics isn’t too much of a surprise, as Savage actually interned for former U.S. Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania in 2003 when he was a student at Stanford University. He’ll be taking part in a tough political race this time, however, as he’ll be going for Rep. Adam Schiff’s seat if he intends to go for Senator Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat.

Savage has mostly stepped away from acting in more recent years, although he did reprise his role of Cory Matthews in the Boy Meets World sequel series Girl Meets World in 2014 to 2017. He also directed ten episodes of the show throughout its run. Since the cancellation of the show, he has appeared in a small number of TV shows including Criminal MindsHomeland and several TV films. It seems unlikely that he’ll be returning to acting now that he’s all-in on politics.
