Black Panther premiered last night with star-studded attendees in "royal attire" on the purple carpet and ended with rave reviews. However, there were a few notables missing from the L.A. event, including World of Wakanda writer Roxane Gay.
Gay, who's also the New York Times–best-selling author of Bad Feminist, wrote the Black Panther spinoff comic book series for Marvel in 2016. She is the first black woman to be a lead writer for a Marvel series. But it seems that her invite to the coveted premiere "got lost in the mail." Now, after some serious jealousy-inducing photos from the premiere night surfaced on the internet, Gay went to Twitter to voice her sadness over not getting an invite. (She also notes that she's "thrilled" to see the movie.)

Another tweeter noted that this relates to Mo'Nique's plight against Netflix that cites black women as being overlooked and underpaid. Gay seemed to agree.
Christopher Priest and Ta'Nehisi Coates, who wrote the most notable Black Panther comic book runs, were also not seen at the premiere night, although it's unclear whether or not they were invited and didn't show up or just weren't pictured at the event.
Our suggestion? Throw a big soiree with all the Black Panther artists and writers for a private screening. Your move, Marvel.
