'Space Jam 2' Starring LeBron James May Have a New Director

'Space Jam 2' producers in talks with Terence Nance to direct the sequel. Nance is best known for writing and directing the indie film, 'An Oversimplification of Her Beauty.'

LeBron James pulls superheroic feats on the regular in real life. But the NBA legend may be playing a hero on the big screen as well, and it could happen sooner than you think.

The Wrap reports director Terence Nance is in talks to helm a James-starring Space Jam 2. Nance is best known for writing and directing the quirky, whimsical 2012 film, An Oversimplification of Her Beauty, which also blends animation and real life.Of course, the 1996 original Space Jam did something similar as Michael Jordan teamed up with the Looney Tunes to defeat an alien team, Monstars. Nance is also slated to premiere his HBO six-episode series, Random Acts of Flyness, on Friday night. It's been described as a "black wonderland"

Prior to Nance, Space Jam 2 producers were in talks with Fast and Furious director Justin Lin to direct, but it seems Lin and the Space Jam 2 producers are heading in separate directions. In the meantime, the script is ready. Andrew Dodge, who's best known for 2013 comedy, Bad Words, wrote the screenplay for the film. Although James hasn't officially signed on to star in the film yet, it's looking promising thus far.

But as we await confirmation on Space Jam 2, Nance's latest work, Random Acts of Flyness, airs at midnight on HBO.
