The debut trailer for Widows, which is Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen' first movie since 2013's 12 Years a Slave, dropped Monday.
The Chicago-set story features Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Erivo, and Elizabeth Debicki as four women left in debt thanks to their deceased husbands' nefariousness. Thankfully, this set-up results in a heist. McQueen penned the script with Gillian Flynn, the mind behind Gone Girl. Get Out's Daniel Kaluuya, Atlanta's Brian Tyree Henry, Colin Farrell, and Liam Neeson also star. The film is based on Lynda La Plante's 1980s British crime drama of the same name.
Kaluuya, like all of us, is stoked to see McQueen's final cut of the hotly anticipated film. "I can't wait to watch that," he toldScreen Daily last November. "I mean, it's Viola Davis in a heist movie—I'd pay to see that. Steve McQueen just sees it like music and he calls the film a symphony and everyone is a player. He created the boundaries and parameters and within those boundaries you can do what you want."
With 12 Years a Slave, McQueen earned a wave of critical acclaim. The film, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, ultimately bagged a trio of Oscars for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and—thanks to a remarkable performance from Lupita Nyong'o—Best Supporting Actress. His two previous features, 2008's Hunger and 2011's Shame, were also lauded. In 2015, McQueen collaborated with Kanye West for the nearly-impossible-to-find "All Day/I Feel Like That" double video.
Widows hits theaters Nov. 16.
