Former friendDavid Schwimmer has impressively shined as the late Robert Kardashian in the first two episodes of FX's American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, but those moves have apparently not impressed the Kardashian family. In fact, TMZ reports the Kardashians have taken specific issue with a scene in the second episode of the record-breaking series in which Kim, Kourtney, Khloé, and Rob all gather around the TV to watch their dad during a press conference.
The family reportedly argues that they did make a point to catch Robert Kardashian read O.J. Simpson's suicide note on TV, but that the scene promptly entered the territory of "ridiculous" by showing the young Kardashians cheering and celebrating their father's sudden fame. According to TMZ's sources, the family is clearly not a fan of the series' insinuation that the trial's national attention inspired their own individual career paths.
Kato Kaelin, another crucial figure in O.J.'s life and a prominent character in American Crime Story, expressed his own frustrations with the series by calling out its general "#notadocumentary" vibe in a statement to Us Weekly on Wednesday. "One of the most powerful scenes in episode 2 is when Robert Kardashian tells O.J.'s family that he's killed himself and proceeds to read the suicide letter," Kaelin reveals. "Kato is in this scene sitting with O.J.'s family — but that never happened. I wasn't there."
However, as noted by Kaelin himself, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson is in fact not a documentary.
