After nearly 10 years of false starts, the second movie adaptation of Stephen King's 1983 hit Pet Sematary will finally get a proper introduction to our psyches this Friday.
Early Monday, Paramount dropped the final trailer for directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kölsch's update on the King classic. Catch this final glimpse up top ahead of the movie's April 5 release.
The 2019 edition gives the pained roles of Louis and Rachel Creed to Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz, who are joined this go-around by John Lithgow as notorious neighbor Jud. For Lithgow, the opportunity to bring his take to such a popular King character was inspired in large part by a newfound horror he discovered on the pages.
"I love horror that is played for a completely authentic, human emotion and to me, because it's a family story and everybody has a family, everybody connects with either a parent or child," he toldCollider in February, recalling a persuasive 40-minute phone conversation he had with this new Pet Sematary team. "It just seemed to have this emotional foundation to it that could really take people to a cathartic place."
Theatrically, Kingheads also have the next chapter of It to look forward to this September. Chapter One stars like Bill Skarsgård are joined in the 27-years-later happenings of Chapter Two by James McAvoy, Bill Vader, Jessica Chastain, Jay Ryan, Isaiah Mustafa, Andy Bean, and James Ransone as older versions of the Pennywise crew.
