Looks like all the buzz surrounding Ashton Kutcher's performance as late Apple founder Steve Jobs couldn't save Jobs from a grim box office fate: According to Business Insider, the film—which was released this past weekend—is pretty much tanking in the box office, and the reviews aren't much better either.
First, the numbers: After hitting theaters on Friday, Jobs has earned a total of $6.7 million nationwide, which only puts it at number seven—in other words, extremely disappointing. Rub the fact that Jobs has only earned a 25% score on Rotten Tomatoes into that wound, and you've got a dismal opening.
Jobs' Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has spoken about his dislike for the film, prompting Kutcher to claim that Wozniak is being paid to consult on another Steve Jobs film by a different studio, so that's why he can't say anything bad about Jobs. Wozniak fired back in a review of the film he penned for Gizmodo:
None
Which is basically just a longer way of saying: "Nah, man, the movie just sucked."
In other, more happy (for some people) news: As previously reported, The Butler absolutely crushed the competition this past weekend, and earned an impressive $25 million to open at number one in the box office.
