The 10 Best Orgy Scenes In Movies

There are some classic pairings that are inarguably better together: hot dogs and baseball games; gin and tonic; Beyoncé and Hova; and, of course, sex and movies. Is there anything better than two naked, writhing bodies on celluloid? Yes, there is: several more naked bodies writhing on celluloid simultaneously in an orgy.

The decision to include a group sex scene in your film can be risky, though. After all, a steamy sexual romp with two people is hard enough to sneak by the MPAA, which prefers that bodies be brutalized, not pleasured. Thankfully there are a few bold directors who dare to dream that their movies will be judged not by the numerals in their sex scenes, but by the context of their sexual content. Or something like that.

Two such brave artists are writer-directors Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, who made their orgiastic intentions clear with the title of their new comedy, A Good Old Fashioned Orgy. In the pic, Jason Sudeikis stars as a 30-something party guy clinging to his youth and trying to get his friends and their significant others (played by an amazing ensemble cast that includes Leslie Bibb, Lake Bell, Nick Kroll, Tyler Labine, Martin Starr, Lucy Punch, and Will Forte) to participate in some collective bumping of the uglies. Does he succeed? Watch and find out!

Embrace of the Vampire centers around a young girl Charlotte (played by an almost jailbait young Alyssa Milano), whose wide-eyed innocence catches the attention of a male-female vampire couple who want to taste her unbitten fruit. Despite having a doting (read: would be bad in bed) boyfriend, Charlotte is visibly enticed by her two bloodsucking tempters. She spends her days being seduced by the lady vamp, who offers to take nude photos of her (the oldest trick in the seduction book) and her nights having vivid visions of the male vampire taking her v-card.

The culminating scene shows Charlotte naked in silk sheets, being sexually devoured by her boyfriend and the lesbian vampire, who are on either side of her, with the male vampire looming above, poised to take her. Added bonus: the scene is shot as if we are looking down from the headboard, giving us a unique view of Alyssa Milano in all her porcelain, faux-virginal glory.

Sex is the blank canvas of a filmmaker. A wide range of statements can easily be impressed on a physical act, allowing sex to serve as the perfect conduit for violence, desperation, and, in Shortbus' case, emotion of a softer kind.

The film follows Sofia, a sex therapist who has never experienced an orgasm (if a sadder irony exists, we've never encountered it). In hopes of securing the pleasure that eludes her, Sofia and her boyfriend begin attending weekly sex parties in Brooklyn, where the elusive big O is vigorously pursued.

The final scene occurs during a citywide blackout where, amidst flickering candles and a live band's circus-like soundtrack, the room's many inhabitants erupt into a huge orgy. A helpful stranger (who happens to be a woman) helps Sofia finally get her climax on, which makes the whole event feel like a giant celebration, one with dozens of weird, naked people.

Non-titilatting title aside, the Danish took on screen-sex to new heights (or is it depths?) withThe Idiots. The film follows a group of adults who have vowed to detach from any semblance of normality and embrace their inner idiot. In order to achieve this, the group members take on a disabled persona that allows them to lose all inhibitions, which means that no impulse, however outlandish, is off limits.

This plays out in a risqué way at one of the members' birthday party, whose birthday wish is "a gang-bang" (as explicitly spelled out in subtitles). The result is a playful and somehow sentimental orgy, which looks as paradoxical as it sounds.

The list of fetishes that Sharman flamboyantly parades in this campy, quasi horror film is as smutty as it is lengthy, and covers every inclination under the sun: transvestites, voyeurs, bisexuals, and even cannibals are sexually celebrated. Freaks of the world, rejoice!

So, it should come as no shocker that Sharman didn't go the missionary, boy-girl, in-the-bed route for his sex scene, and instead took his kinky cast into a swimming pool for a wet and wild orgy. Turns out, Dr. Frank-N-Furter and his stiletto and fishnet-clad crew are into some bizzare, far from traditional T&A action—are you really that surprised?

There are sex scenes that evoke beauty and tender emotion, and then, on the polar opposite end of the sexual spectrum, lies Salò. Pasolini's art house film unflinchingly portrays 18 teenagers forced into a depraved exploration of sexuality you almost wish had been left unexplored, which is why we are in no way urging you to watch this film.

It is not sexy by any means, but it is an undebatably debaucherous, uncomfortably violent orgy from start to finish, which is why we couldn't leave it out. Plus, Pasolini embraces the idea of an orgy with a perversion and unmatched panache that almost elevates this controversial film to art. Almost.

Cronenberg once aptly said, "Sex and violence go very well together, like bacon and eggs." So it should come as no shock that Shivers, one of Cronenberg's first horror films, is filled with plenty of both. The subtly terrifying, vintage horror vibe of the trailer serves as an indication of what's to come: a phallic shaped, worm-like virus that slowly attacks the residents of a luxe apartment building. The virus literally inhabits its victims as if it's a snail that has found a new shell, forcing its victims into a uncontrollable, rabid sex frenzy.

The virus can only be spread sexually, so an orgy seems imminent from scene one—could there be a more efficient way to spread a virus? Cronenberg's pièce de résistance is the film's culmination, which shows the last uninfected man pursued by a sex-hungry mob into a pool. The man is swallowed by the mostly-naked mob in slow motion, whose first contact with the virus is made by way of a wet kiss from a beautiful brunette. What a glorious way to go out.

The premise of Perfume is as perverse as it is intriguing: A man with a heightened sense of smell goes on a maniacal mission to create the perfect scent, which can only be captured by murdering the woman who is unlucky enough to give it off. As the murderer finally bottles the perfume he has labored his entire life to create, he is captured and sentenced to death.

He rubs a single drop of the perfume on his skin before he faces the crowd that awaits his hanging, but when they catch a wiff of him, they become instantly intoxicated by his scent. The formerly bloodthirsty mob, high on their collective olfactory arousal, declare the killer innocent and the sea of bodies merge together for the most massive orgy imaginable. For sheer immensity (the two minute scene required 750 extras and took five days to shoot), Perfume's climactic scene is a sexual and cinematic triumph.

One would assume that Dracula's harem of temptresses would have some quirky fetishes, but thanks to Coppola's take on the clasically sexy tale, we know just what keeps the vamp's slinky women satisfied: orgies, and plenty of them. Coppola eroticizes vampire folklore more than ever before with his dark reimagining of this quintisentially kinky tale of Dracula and his three ravenous brides.

As the Count lazily lounges in his coffin, his trio of insatiable women seduce and suck on his rival, all in Drac's own bed. Unfortunately for them, Dracula springs from his coffin and puts an end to the dirty deed. Bloodletting is one thing, but sharing his wives? Clearly another.

Say what you want about Tom Cruise, but you have to give the guy props, because he's been in some of the most iconic sex scenes of our time. Kubrick's unrated version of Eyes Wide Shut is far from an exception; it is a rare, dark pleasure that is just the right mix of filth and fun.

Cruise plays Bill, a married doctor who wants to mix things up a bit (a.k.a. screw someone new) and who crashes a sex-shindig he's heard about. What he stumbles into is a mansion that looks like a kinky fantasy come alive, with naked, masked women with perfect breasts draped over every available surface, being mounted by other masked women (and men), in every imaginable position. The only drawback? This kink comes with strings attached. It's actually a quasi-religious ritual with a hefty price tag: death. Way to kill our erotic buzz.

When you make a movie about the sex life of Roman royalty, you have to go big—Roman Empire big. And thankfully, Caligula doesn't disappoint with its sword-and-sandal scandal. Caligula follows a hedonistic man with who takes out the former royalty for the crown, and does just what we would do if we were emperor: throw wild, kinky sex parties. He also does things we wouldn't do (tries to have sex with his sister) and some things we've always wanted to do (have a three-way with a young Helen Mirren).

Under the direction of Penthouse magazine's Bob Guccione, Caligula's already controversial R rated version went way beyond X, with a long, raunchy laundry list that included an orgy with over 50 naked women, several lesbian trysts, fisting, excrement galore, and oral sex, in every possible combination. And if there was any fetish left unexplored, you can probably find it in the 930-minute Imperial Edition, which includes the many sex-tras left on Caligula's cutting room floor.
