Tiffany Haddish has had a pretty impressive rise since her breakout role in last summer's Girls Trip, and her interviews often reveal how tumultuous that journey really was.
Fellow comedian and actor Kevin Hart, who is set to star alongside Haddish in the upcoming comedy Night School, recently visited Jimmy Kimmel to tell the host about a time he helped her out when her living situation was less than ideal. "I knew Tiffany when Tiffany was homeless. Tiffany was living out of her car and nobody knew. She was trying to keep it a secret," Hart said, adding he eventually figured out she was, in fact, sleeping in her car. "I was nowhere near [...] Kevin Hart today and in my pocket, I had $300 and I was like, ‘Here. I don’t know what your situation is, but hopefully this can do something for you in this time because I feel like you’re not telling me something.'"
Hart said Haddish used the money for a week's stay at a motel, but never told him until long after the fact. "Tiffany got successful, took the story, I found out that [ex Torrei Hart] wrote in her journal about the relationship with me and her," he said. "How I acted as a piece of motivation in stand-up comedy because I simply uplifted her every time we saw her. Told her she was funny. Told her she was going to be a star." In true comedian fashion, Hart mentioned that Haddish never paid back the $300. "Until this day, she's yet to bring up the money to give it back," he said jokingly.
Night School, which also stars Romany Malco and Insecure's Yvonne Orji, hits theaters on September 28.
