Inductees to the all-new Internet Hall of Famewere announced today, and the prestigious group includes several individuals who helped pioneer the World Wide Web.
Sponsored by The Internet Society, the Internet Hall of Fame was created to "publicly recognize a distinguished and select group of visionaries, leaders and luminaries who have made significant contributions to the development and advancement of the global Internet."
The first round of inductees comprised 30 people from nine different countries, including Tim Berners-Lee, Vint Cerf, Robert Kahn, Craig Newmark, Al Gore and more.
Notable exclusions include Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and Web browser pioneer Mark Andreeseen. Those guys and others still have next year, however, as the hall of fame plans to induct new members annually.
