This week was pretty amazing! The Jordan brand took us down to Miami to hang with Dwyane Wade and document his first Jordan brand signature shoe collection. The weather was incredible. I was in high spirits and had plenty of time to relax on the beach and drink mango juice. The accommodations were exceptional; let’s just say I now know why Lil Wayne has a condo there, and also why his doormat is always sandy.
I just came back to Montreal and launched a new digital collaboration so my week is ending with a bang. Where will I be next week? Who knows, but I’ll be right here on Complex sharing it with you all. Enjoy!
Jumping in Puddles
WHAT: The only puddle in Toronto?
WHERE: Back alley of the Remix Project
WHEN: Friday (April 1), 2 p.m.
It seems like the spring season decided to skip Toronto because it was extremely cold and hard to find a real puddle of water. We scoured the city looking for a puddle so we could shoot my studio session for my DC Life Project. We finally found one behind the Remix Project building and decided to shoot. The picture came out pretty epic. It was -15 °C, so my feet were frozen and my socks were soaking wet but it was worth the 20 takes to get it perfect. I am extremely happy with the final shot! How cool is that?
Setai Hotel
WHAT: "Best Hotel in South Beach"
WHERE: Setai Hotel
WHEN: Sunday (April 3), all day
My driver told me that the Setai Hotel is the best hotel in South Beach. Sometimes I think they're paid to say that, but this time I believed him. The hotel is super cool, with so many great things to look at. The service is impressive and the rooms are amazing. The slippers were also pretty awesome. We made jokes all week that it was a Jordan Brand collaboration because they were so cool. If you decide to eat the brunch or the breakfast, make sure you inquire about the price first; it is very expensive.
Call-A-Cab
WHAT: Famous icy alcoholic beverage
WHERE: Wet Willies, Miami
WHEN: Sunday (April 3), 6 p.m.
So apparently these alcoholic ice drinks are pretty popular. The prices are pretty expensive but it's sure to make you feel great. Wet Willies is known for their Call-A–Cab mango drink. The ladies love it (if you know what I mean). I could not believe how packed this place was and how early people were drunk.
The Webster Miami
WHAT: Gallery/Bar/Retail location
WHERE: The Webster, Miami
WHEN: Monday (April 4), afternoon
My homie Nick wanted to visit this new retail space called the Webster, so we walked what felt like 15 blocks in the smoldering heat to find this location. Was it worth the walk? I mean, the place is super cool and they have great brands but I would have preferred taking a cab. When you walk into the Webster, an art gallery/bar greets you, which is an interesting idea. When you make your way downstairs you can see all of the brands and collections. They weren’t too happy with me because I was taking pictures, but at least you know how much I love you guys. Apparently their brunch is also great!
Dwayne Wade & Mark Smith
WHAT: Interview Session with D-Wade & Mark Smith
WHERE: Setai Hotel Suites (37th floor)
WHEN: Monday (April 4), 3:20 p.m.
The Jordan brand hosted a media meeting with Mr. Wade and Mr. Smith to talk about D-Wade's first ever signature Jordan brand sneaker. Dwyane felt really comfortable talking with us and sharing his insights. He seems like a real down to earth guy who appreciates dope things. Oh, and we got to design some Fly Wade Jordan ID's.
