Jeremy Renner announced Wednesday that his app was going to be shut down after being overrun by trolls. Â
"Due to clever individuals that were able to manipulate ways to impersonate me and others within the app I have asked ESCAPEX, the company that runs this app to shut it down immediately," Renner wrote in a post on the app. "What was supposed to be a place for fans to connect with each other has turned into a place that is everything I detest and can’t or won’t condone."Â
Over the last few weeks or so, the app has gone from a hub for all things Renner and turned into a place that uses controversial public figures, such as Casey Anthony, for sick jokes, and even occasionally poses as J Rens to deliver messages that his diehard fans knew could never come from him.Â
Even though the app's two-year run has come and gone, the memory of the place where all Renner fans could congregate to discuss their love for Hawkeye while collecting "stars" that would lead to greater prizes, including a reply from the man himself, will always live on.Â
He might not have an app anymore but Renner does at least have an Amazon storefront. The Marvel actor launched the venture back in August, Daily Dot reports. "Living in mountains at elevation, with no traffic, clean air, clean water, and being surrounded by the oldest living things on the planet is nothing short of majestic," the page reads. Items include a variety of nature gear from tents to binoculars.
Celebrities like Meek Mill, Heidi Klum, Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, Dwyane Wade, Zac Efron, Post Malone, and others also have a store through the company.Â
