All eyes were on Toronto’s Old City Hall on Thursday as an Ontario court judge delivered his decision in the high profile sexual assault trial for former CBC Radio host Jian Ghomeshi.
Judge William Horkins found Jian Ghomeshi NOT GUILTY on all counts.
It has been more than a month since three brave women took the stand in a packed Toronto courtroom and detailed allegations of sexual assault against the disgraced radio personality, who had been charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of overcoming resistance, choking.
The charges stem from accusations made by three women who say Ghomeshi sexually assaulted them between 2002 and 2003.
Two of the three women cannot be identified due to a court-ordered publication ban while the third complainant, Trailer Park Boys actress Lucy DeCoutere, agreed to be publicly named.
During the two-week trial, the complainants testified that Ghomeshi became violent and assaulted them without warning in incidents that are said to have occurred between December 2002 and July 2003. Ghomeshi acknowledged in 2014 that he engaged in rough sex acts, but said it was consensual.
