David Yates Commits To Direct Live-Action "Tarzan" Movie

The Harry Potter director makes a surprising move.

None

We’ve been waiting months to find out which project director David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) would tackle next, and now it seems like we have his decision because according to Vulture, he has committed to helm a new live-action version of Tarzan over at Warner Brothers. There is no word yet on who Yates and the studio will cast in the role of Tarzan himself, but the site is reporting that actors like Henry Cavill, Charlie Hunnam, and Alexander Skarsgård are all being looked at.

Our opinion? Throw the Cavill rumors out. There is no way Warner Bros. would want him as both the Man of Steel and Tarzan at the same time. Also, there is a report that the studio is high on Tom Hardy for the role, but he’s been rumored for everything in recent months, so don’t get your hopes up about that either. Look for more of a Chris Hemsworth type, who is physically imposing, yet relatively unknown. We’ll have more information on this project as it becomes available.
