'Atlanta Robbin’ Season' Episode 6 Will Air Without Commercials

Donald Glover's show returns Thursday night commercial free.

The sixth episode of Donald Glover's popular and culture-shifting TV show Atlanta Robbin' Season (previously known as just Atlanta) will air tonight (Thursday, April 5) on FX without commercial interruptions.

The 41-minute episode of the typically 22ish-minute show, written by Donald Glover and directed by Hiro Murai, has the following succinct description: “Darius is trippin in this one. Y’all know I woulda been left.”

In the trailer, it appears that Darius has gotten himself into a very peculiar situation that mirrors something we've seen in Get Out.

FX did not elaborate on the reason behind the commercial-free episode, but one can only presume the cinematic nature of this plot calls for it.

During a panel at the 2018 Winter Television Critics Association press tour, Stephen Glover explained the show's title change. “Robbin’ Season, for most of you that I guess don’t know, is a time in Atlanta right before Christmastime and New Year’s. Basically, a bunch of crime happens in the city right during that time.”

“It’s just like a very kind of tense and desperate time,” he went on. “So we wanted that to be the backdrop to this season. Our characters are going through [a] transition from their whole lives to where they’re heading now. Yeah, Robbin Season’ is kind of a metaphor for all of that.”
