While gamers across the globe have been waiting for the launch of the highly anticipated PlayStation 5, it appears the gaming console could have its launch events and price altered due to the rapid spread of COVID-19. A report from Bloombergclaims that Sony has told its manufacturing partners it expects to make "5 to 6 million units [of the PS5] in the fiscal year ending March 2021" which would be significantly less than what it made off the PS4 during the initial run.

Bloomberg also reports that Sony might have to reconsider its reveal event for the PS5 due to public gathering health risks, and that it might plan to raise the price of the console from between $499 to $549 because of limited stock due to the pandemic affecting production.

Sony does appear, however, to be sticking with its initial launch date during the 2020 holiday season, which it announced in October of last year. Fans are still reeling following the reveal of the PS5 controller, with many allowing their imagination to take over and already thinking of creative designs and customs for the new equipment.

There has still been no official word from Sony yet regarding the news, but hopefully the launch of the long-awaited console can stay on track despite any coronavirus-related setbacks.
