Intro
We'd like to file this next list under "Classroom Debates," 'cause some of the most epic arguments of our childhood were a result of this question: Who would win in a fight? How 'bout we raise the stakes a bit on this one? Pick any recognizable characters from anything (comics, movies, other video games, etc.) and put them in the fighting game they'd thrive in. Now that the doo-doo head insults have been yelled and the spit balls have been launched, these ten franchise players made the cut. That's the bell for round one as we count down 10 characters we'd like to see in a fighting game...

10. Freddie Krueger
10. Freddie Krueger
Put Him In: Mortal Kombat
Stay awake with us on this one (seriously, keep a 5 Hour Energy next to you). Mortal Kombat is home to the most violent, bone breaking gameplay we've ever seen in a fighting game. We think Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddie Krueger would be a perfect guest kombatant. Can you imagine his fatalities? He lulls opponents into a deep slumber then enters their dreams and cuts them into millions of human chunks. And then, they wake up and collapse into pieces. Flawless victory.
9. Blade
9. Blade
Put Him In: Marvel vs. Capcom 3
And so begins our character DLC wishlist for Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Anyone who wielded a blade and pocketed some firearms in that game was always a part of our three man squad. Dante, Taskmaster and Deadpool FTW! Imagine our disappointment when Blade was relegated to a cameo appearance in Jill's ending. The vampire hunter with superhuman strength, speed and stamina alongside a healing factor that would make Wolverine seem enemic deserves a spot on the roster. Get on that ASAP, Capcom.
8. Vergil
8. Vergil
Put Him In: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or Soul Calibur V
There's an even COOLER version of Dante? Believe it. Vergil was the main baddie in DMC3 but it was so hard to hate him. With Yamato in hand, he made short work of all the demons that didn't appreciate his hairstyle (we love it, so don't kill us). All that beautiful swordplay would look sweet against Mitsuguri in Soul Calibur and he'd lay a demonic beatdown on his bro in MVC3. The cold-blooded twin brother in the blue jacket is the guy we want to play when we claim the lives of countless online scrubs.
7. Iron Fist
7. Iron Fist
Put Him In: Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Is that Iron Fist who's about to have a karate showdown with Ryu? Talk about a dream match, but why stop there? Send him over to Marvel's side for MVC3! Danny Rand wouldn't have to share the spotlight with Power Man if he got featured in this fighting game. His Iron Fist powers combined with his superhero martial arts makes him a no-brainer. Plus he's from New York. +1 for Iron Fist.
6. The Prince
6. The Prince
Put Him In: Soul Calibur V: The Prince of Persia
He's the only man capable of whuppin' dat ass with his trusty scimitar, rewinding that moment back, then proceeding to do it over again. If there's one fighting game the Prince fits like a glove, it's the Soul Calibur franchise. An epic tale of swords retold needs a quick visit from the guy with another sword that's in demand: the Dagger of Time. Back flipping off Nightmare's back then bopping him upside the head is something that would get a SCV pre-order from us. We hope we can cheat and just fling some sand in everyone's eyes. It's only cheating if ya' get caught.
5. Nightwing
5. Nightwing
Put Him In: An All-DC Fighting Game
Anyone have any fond memories of Justice League Task Force? How about Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe? *crickets* Thought so. The DC comic book franchise features some the best superheros of all time. When they get done smashin' villains and saving the world for the umpteeth time, we'd like to see 'em appear in a halfway decent fighting game. The first character we wanna see in is Nightwing. Surprised? You shouldn't be. Nightwing is the hardcore, cooler version of Robin. And that outfit—man that would look sweet in 2D or 3D. That's one badass bat.
4. Proto Man
4. Proto Man
Put Him In: Marvel vs. Capcom 3
There was a vocal group of fans who decried it blasphemous to not include the blue bomber, Mega Man, in MVC3. Consider us the Proto Man fans in the back of the room and we're protesting to get him in instead. Robots aren't supposed to have the swag humans thirst for. Proto Man, however, breaks that rule. The shield, the blaster, the red and gray get-up, plus his iconic whistle tune made us love the guy. If Proto Man could make Mega Man his bitch in the middle of a stage, imagine how much he could humble Zero in MVC3. Oh, and his shades are sweeter than Wesker's.
3. Ip Man
3. Ip Man
Put Him In: Tekken 7, Virtua Fighter 6
Every 3D fighter that's ever come out in the last decade features all types of martial arts disciples (not to mention, a million Bruce Lee copycats). But the grandmaster of all grandmasters, Ip Man, is a bono fide beast. He was certified when it came to his Wang Chun plus he was Bruce Lee's master. Word? Feature him in either the next Tekken or Virtua Fighter and we guarantee we won't lose. After seeing Donnie Yen do him and his legendary fisticuffs justice in the Ip Man flicks, we're ready to lay out some fools on the 3D battlefield.
2. Carnage
2. Carnage
Put Him In: Marvel vs. Capcom 3
When MVC3 was first announced, we immediately thought the psychotic, symbiotic serial killer Carnage would make an appearance. Then, we saw the rating for the game. Carnage is a bit too violent for a teen-rated game, don't ya think? WHO CARES! Can you imagine him and his axe hands doing major damage to Spider-Man and those busters on the Capcom side? Forget Venom, we've played him enough. When we see red, we think Carnage. All those awesome tentacles coming alive and resulting in a super cool looking Level 3 super would change our lives. Forever, ever? Forever, ever.
1. The Punisher
1. The Punisher
Put Him In: Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat
Frank Castle is a man on a mission. Completing that mission involves murder, kidnapping and extortion. The word "hero" is used loosely for this guy. We've had our fill of doing the "goodie two shoes" thing. Now we wanna don the skull T-shirt and put a hurtin' on the cast of MVC3 and MK. The Punisher is a one-man wrecking machine so we'd love to do a solo run with him and lay some machine-gun fire on Chris. We'll show him how it's done. Remember those cringe inducing interrogation sequences from the PS2 Punisher game? Let's make those the game enders.
